Hasami ware is a pottery type from Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture on the island of Kyushu. Its origin dates back over 400 years, when in 1599, the Korean potter LiYouquing was brought to Japan by the feudal lord of the Omura Clan Yoshiaki Omura. Gradually, the production was specialized on porcelain, which today Hasami is famous for.
