Featured above: Wisteria Bracelet by Wraptillion

Kelly Jones, the creator of Wraptillion, combines traditional craft with science and engineering to make modern chainmail jewelry. Growing up in a family of artists and engineers, she learned to look at objects in new ways. Her unique take on chainmail results in intricate patterns that serve as everyday armor with a modern twist.

Kelly uses hidden fasteners from cars, planes, and motorcycles in her jewelry. She works with titanium and stainless steel to make strong, light pieces that don't need polishing. These materials are also good for people with sensitive skin, with titanium being less likely to cause reactions than gold.

Her focus is on turning strong, light metals into flexible chains that move well when worn. Kelly carefully tests different wire sizes and ring shapes to make designs that are both flexible and stable. This careful work creates eye-catching patterns that keep their shape without getting tangled.

Kelly makes each piece by hand, opening and closing tiny rings with pliers. While based on old techniques, her process is updated for today's style. She joins, smooths, and polishes hundreds of titanium rings to make a single necklace. This slow, thoughtful process allows Kelly to create unique, wearable art that blends old and new.
