These unique wood-fired Matsushiro-yaki cups are a perfect and unique combination of timeless design and the oldest form of Japanese pottery.
Handcrafted by artisan Tomoki Miyazaki in the mountains of Nagano Prefecture, Japan, each piece features a stunning gradient of blues, greens, and whites - all captured within thick glaze drips that ensure that each and every piece is one-of-a-kind. The glazes themselves are colored using natural materials, like copper and straw ash. During the firing process, these materials react with the iron-rich red clay of the cup itself, creating the signature green-blue pigmentation of the Matsushiro-yaki style.
