In the beautiful scenery of Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture, Haruho Baba runs his kiln. Despite carrying an immense workload, producing products for a lot of renowned brands, his relaxed character and patience mirrors the atmosphere of the whole village.
Hasami ware is a pottery type from Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture on the island of Kyushu. Its origin dates back over 400 years, when in 1599, the Korean potter LiYouquing was brought to Japan by the feudal lord of the Omura Clan Yoshiaki Omura. Gradually, the production was specialized in porcelain, which today Hasami is famous for.
